Rona Stein Matta

By obits

Rona Stein Matta, surrounded by her immediate family, passed on in peace on March 23, 2021, leaving this world to now be in heaven with her daughter, Devin Matta. Rona was born on Nov. 7, 1965, in Pittsburgh and is survived by her devoted husband, Gary; daughter Langley and son-in-law, Tyler; sons, Austin Matta, Jaquan Davidson and Nathan Hall; her mother, Roseanna Stein; and mother-in-law, Florence Matta. Rona will be forever remembered by her brothers, Mark (Terry), Allen (Cindy), Glenn (Bev) Stein; and sisters, Donna (Joe Hussak), Jana (Ronald Wentzel), Laura (Chuck Yawnlis, deceased), Cara Neil, Nora (Neil Bonnett), Lisa (Robert Christy); brother-in-law, George (Cindy) Dillinger and brother-in-law, George (Cathy) Matta. Rona has also touched the lives of her numerous nephews, nieces and extended family and dear friends. Courage results when one’s convictions are bigger than one’s fears. Words could not be any truer to anyone who witnessed how Rona battled cancer for the past nine years. Rona refused to quit living her life, despite ongoing chemotherapy and radiation and maintained a courageous outlook and will to live her life to the fullest — witnessing her children grow up to become the remarkable adults she and Gary raised them to be, vacations with her husband Gary across the United States, trips to Florida with her sisters and mother where they enjoyed their special sisterhood bond over games of cards and cocktails in the evening and spending holidays with her truly large and extended family where everyone present witnessed Rona’s strong and unbreakable attitude in battling cancer. Rona would not want us to feel sorry and grieve her passing, but instead she would ask us to celebrate her life by appreciating and making the most that life offers and having the same courage Rona had during her battle that we may face in our own lives. With that in mind, Rona’s life will be celebrated with visitation of close family and friends on Friday, March 26, from 1 to 8 p.m. at PITTSBURGH CREMATION AND FUNERAL CARE, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, Pa., 15317. Everyone is welcome to a funeral Mass that will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 27, at St. Louise de Marillac, 320 McMurray Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15241. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Please view and sign the family’s online guestbook at pittsburghcremation.com.
