The financial scene in the Mon Valley is changing.
On Tuesday, Community Bank announced its intention to consolidate six branch offices in response to changing banking and financial services.
Locations in Monongahela and Perryopolis are among those affected. The bank in Monongahela will consolidate with a location in Rostraver Township. The Perryopolis branch will consolidate with both the Uniontown and Rostraver locations.
President and CEO John H. Montgomery said the decision is part of the bank’s plan to make necessary investments to enhance infrastructure, digital technology and client experience across its network.
The Monongahela branch has been in operation since 1979 and is expected to close by June 30.
Approximately 20 jobs will be impacted across the network because of the consolidations, Montgomery said.
“There will be an impact, but it will not be connected with a specific location,” he said. “Thankfully, the board has approved a generous severance package that will support employees during the transition and offer placement to other locations when possible.
“We are concerned about those who will be impacted by this, which is why developing such a generous severance package was so important.”
