High winds Sunday and early Monday tore down electric wires, felled trees and sent at least two area trampolines flying through the air.
A trampoline ended up in a tree in Fallowfield Township Monday. Another trampoline was tossed into a vehicle in Elizabeth Borough Sunday. Several roads were closed at least temporarily by downed trees or wires Sunday and Monday, including Sunnyside Hollow Road in Forward Township.
According to various posts on Facebook, children’s playhouses and other toys were blown out of yards in a number of neighborhoods. No major damage was reported in the region.
Power outages were scattered throughout the region Sunday and early Monday. While West Penn Power had initially reported that most of the outages would not be repaired until sometime Tuesday, all but a handful were repaired by Monday evening.
Some of the remaining outages were expected to be restored by 5 p.m. today, according to the West Penn Power website. The windstorm impacted 50,000 customers throughout West Penn Power’s service territory.
First Energy Corp. Senior Communications Representative Todd Myers said service was restored to all but about 3,900 West Penn Power customers Monday night.
