The COVID-19 pandemic hasn’t stopped Danny Beeck from producing content, especially with the National Football League draft just around the corner.
The only difference is he’s operating from a satellite work station based on his kitchen island rather than his desk at his office.
“One of the things that we’re pretty lucky with in terms of media is we can create from virtually anywhere,” said Beeck, a 2019 California University of Pennsylvania graduate who has served as a video producer for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers since September.
“This hasn’t affected much and if anything, it allows me to be more productive.”
For the last month, Beeck, who admits his job responsibilities differ by the day, has been working remotely out of his Tampa, Fla., home while gearing up for the upcoming draft, which kicks off Thursday.
Beeck, 22, is utilizing Adobe Premiere and accessing a database to gather footage and audio to create highlight videos for the draft.
Leading up to the three-day event, Beeck said the production team will be producing even more content, including one centered around rookie advice. Content featuring the draft calls among Tampa Bay’s general manager, owner and draftees will also be published online.
“It’s a little bit weird with how the draft will be happening this year,” Beeck said of the annual event, which will occur virtually due to social distancing guidelines.
“The content is not struggling because of that. I think now the content is being ramped up because of the fact that there is nothing on TV. Social media right now is the hotbed for content and people’s eyes are glued, more so now than ever, on that content.”
One of four full-time producers on a team that also includes one intern, Beeck has stayed busy over the last month with additional projects covering newsworthy topics. Those include the unveiling of the team’s new uniforms and the signing of quarterback Tom Brady, a 14-time Pro Bowler, three-time Most Valuable Player and six-time Super Bowl champion.
“We were all pulled in 20 different directions with that whole thing just because that was probably the biggest signing in our franchise’s history,” Beeck said. “I’ve never been through an offseason and I never really knew what to expect from an offseason. Now, I’m like working on overdrive.”
