The Forward Township police department was bolstered Monday when township supervisors voted to hire three additional part-time officers.

Police Chief Travis Stoffer said the new hires bring the number of part-time officers on the force to 11. He is the only full-time officer in the township.

“It’s a huge turnover. That’s part of part-time policing,” Stoffer said. “I know I’m going to be losing a couple.”

Hired Monday were Zlatan Avdic of Baldwin, Michael Piccini from Elizabeth Township and Andrew Glass from Clarion.

“They’re all good guys with lots of experience,” Stoffer said.
