Rams face literal tall task against Bridgers

The Ambridge boys basketball team has certainly been in the news this season.
The Bridgers (11-8), who take on Ringgold (13-9) in a WPIAL Class 4A playoff contest tonight at 8 p.m. at Peters Township, got off to a rocky start when veteran coach Mark Jula left the team a couple weeks before the season started.
That left the coaching duties in the hands of his top assistant, Eric Astorino.
If that news didn’t leave Ambridge hard to avoid before the campaign began, the Bridgers definitely stood out on the court all season.
That’s because Ambridge might feature the tallest starting lineup in the WPIAL, led by 6-6 guard Isaiah Thomas and inside bookends Enire Bowins (6-8) and Liam Buck (6-7).
“It’s not very often we are such a decided underdog in terms of size,” said Ringgold coach Phil Pergola. “We have to find a way to keep them from playing volleyball on the boards with the basketball. We need to have good position and box out.”
