Clairton, Sto-Rox set to clash for Class A title

Top-seeded Clairton and No. 3 Sto-Rox will meet for the WPIAL Class A championship at Heinz Field this morning.

Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m.

The two teams last met in the 2013 WPIAL semifinals, which was won by the Vikings, 24-19.

While Clairton has been back and won the WPIAL title three prior times, this marks the Vikings’ first trip back since that win over the Bears.

Sto-Rox was defeated by North Catholic in the 2013 final.

The Vikings have been up and down since; however, Clairton has been a model of consistency under head coach Wayne Wade. Thanks to that model, the Bears are used to playing under the big lights of the “giant ketchup bottle.”

“It’s business as usual for us, nothing has really changed,” said Wade. “We’ve gotten this far by sticking to our routines each week.”
