Libraries usually mean quiet times, reading books and soft chatter with friends.
But how about music and drinking wine?
The Pleasant Hills Public Library is bringing the concept to library patrons for its annual fundraising event from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 9.
With the theme “A Taste of Italy,” the ninth annual event will feature 36 bottles of Italian wine and appetizers donated by Vocelli’s of Pleasant Hills.
“Having a few drinks and reading books at the library just seems to go together,” said Sharon Julian-Milas, the library’s director. “We did this several years ago for the library’s 65th anniversary and it was so successful. We know our audience. Having wine is a little bit different than the usual fundraiser. It’s a little bit more sophisticated.”
