For the first 17 minutes of Monday night’s PIHL Class B opener with Morgantown, Ringgold was able to generate plenty of quality scoring opportunities.
The Rams sent a plethora of pucks flying at Morgantown goaltender Blake Phillips, but it was the Mohawks who took a 1-0 lead just over nine minutes into the first period.
Despite the early deficit, Ringgold head coach Rick Kalinowski wasn’t worried. However, he wasn’t necessarily pleased with what he saw, either.
“I wasn’t worried because I know the boys can put the puck in the net,” Kalinowski said. “The biggest worry I had was there was no chemistry. For at least the first 17 minutes, we didn’t have anything. Anything we practiced, we weren’t doing in the game.”
