The Ringgold boys soccer team used a dominant first half and an opportunistic second half to beat Laurel Highlands, 3-1, in Section 3-3A play Thursday night at Joe Montana Stadium.
The win puts the Rams (4-2, 6-4) alone in third place in the section.
Ringgold outshot the Mustangs, 12-4, in the first half but could only get one early ball past Mustangs goalkeeper Evan McLay.
A little more than three minutes into the game, Andrew Bottino got the Rams on the board. From deep in the box, he chipped a ball over McLay, who made a great effort to knock the ball away; however, he punched it just inside the left post as Ringgold took a 1-0 lead.
