Thomas Jefferson got off to a hot start in Section 2-3A volleyball play with a 3-0 sweep over Belle Vernon on Thursday night.
Despite the win, Thomas Jefferson head coach Ron Kelly feels as if his team still has much to improve on if they want to get back to their dominant ways.
“We were out of sync today,” said Kelly. “We started off playing well, but then after that we didn’t play very well the last two sets. We had very few hits and our blocking was pretty bad. Our serving was really good and that’s what got (Belle Vernon) out of sync a lot tonight.”
The Jaguars took the momentum early in the match, scoring the first four points of the first set and 10 of the first 12 to take an early 10-2 lead. Senior Tyler Turk led the way with three of her seven kills coming in those first 10 points.
