Whiskey Rebellion quelled once again during Mon City’s 250th
Clay Kilgore, director of the Washington County Historical Society, led a group of rebellious farmers Saturday as they marched toward Whiskey Point in Monongahela during the city’s 250th anniversary parade.
Kilgore performed as a rebel, whipping the crowd into an excited frenzy eager to take on the powers that be until Albert Gallatin, portrayed by Ron Duquette, calmed the raucous fighters.
Gallatin, a Pennsylvania state Representative and former treasury secretary, advised his neighbors against war when they met at Whiskey Point in 1794.
Dozens gathered around the re-enactment Saturday to watch their city’s history come to life.
