Last season, the Charleroi boys soccer team rolled to an 18-0 record before suffering two straight losses to end the campaign.
The first came in the WPIAL semifinals to Quaker Valley (5-0) before a loss to Deer Lakes (7-1) in the WPIAL consolation game. Not only were they the first two losses of the year for the Cougars, but they were humbling losses.
“It really left a bad taste in our mouths,” Cougars head coach Jon Ducoli said. “The boys are definitely working harder and our staff has a different look at the outcome.
“We changed our whole nonsection schedule. I want these boys to play teams they’re not comfortable with. Getting them out of their comfort zone is a good thing.”
