BV Legion rallies past Colonial 3

When Colonial 3 scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie a Fayette County American Legion League game with Belle Vernon, BV manager Tom Hartman was thinking one thing: Please, no extra innings.
His BV squad was playing its sixth game in seven days and badly needed a rest.
Nick Stanger bailed his skipper out in the bottom of the sixth inning when his two-out single to right field drove home Max Gauden to give Belle Vernon a 7-6 win at the John DiVirgilio Sports Complex in Rostraver.
“That was a big hit and a big run because my players are really worn out,” Hartman said after the game. “But now, with this win, we get to watch everybody else play.
“Hopefully they will beat each other up this week.”
