The South Allegheny school board approved a budget this week that includes a 1.64-mill tax increase.
The school board adopted a 2019-20 budget of $24.5 million, which will bring the millage rate up to 19.50.
To balance the budget, $1.7 million will be moved from the general fund.
School directors Shawn DeVerse, Bryan Myers, Tim Wackowski, Lou Borrelli, Troy Mitchell and Pete Miller voted in favor of passing the budget, while Dino DiFelice and Russell Geary voted no. Carol Craig abstained.
A mill generates about $500,000. The 19.50 millage rate translates to roughly $19.50 on each $1,000 of assessed market value.
