A large Memorial Day house party allegedly involving underage drinking is being investigated by Rostraver Township police.
Lt. John Christner said there will be “a lot more coming out of (the incident),” which has already led to charges for one teenager.
Derek Michael Cesovski, 19, of Gilmore Avenue, Donora was charged Tuesday with manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, intent to possess a controlled substance, use or possession of drug paraphernalia and purchasing/etc. alcoholic beverages by a minor.
Police responded just before 7 p.m. Monday to a home on Rostraver Road and found approximately 30 people in the backyard, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
Many of the attendees fled on foot, so officers entered the residence to identify others. Cesovski was located inside with a backpack which he initially told police was not his, but later admitted to owning, the affidavit states.
The backpack allegedly contained a large mason jar full of suspected marijuana, plastic baggies, a digital scale with marijuana residue, $376, a cold can of Miller Light beer and a PNC Bank card issued to Cesovski, police said.
Christner said at least one of the homeowners was home during the incident.
He said officers are still trying to determine how many juveniles and adults were involved in the incident, but will be “taking it the whole nine yards” when filing charges. He said some of the participants are residents of the Belle Vernon Area School District and may include current and former students.
“I’m doing everything I can to wrap this up in the next few days,” Christner said. “Time is of the essence with these things, and it’s going well right now. Other criminal charges are imminent.”
No additional charges have been filed as of presstime.
Cesovski remains in the Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of $10,000 monetary bail. He faces a preliminary hearing 10 a.m. Monday before Magisterial District Judge Charles Christner in Rostraver Township.
