Athlete of the Week: Different approach paying dividends for Pinneri

Over the last two years, Elizabeth Forward head softball coach Harry Rutherford has consistently penciled Jordan Pinneri’s name into the No. 2 spot in his starting lineup,
In doing so, he typically looks for her to bunt to advance runners and use her speed to reach base safely, allowing the three and four hitters to do their jobs as run producers.
But things have been different for Pinneri this season.
Rather than being asked to continually lay down a bunt every time she steps in the batters box, the junior second baseman has made a habit out of swinging away and doing damage near the top of the Warriors’ lineup.
