The Warriors softball team had their foot on the gas right from the start, flexing their offensive muscles in Section 2-4A play Wednesday defeating visiting McKeesport, 11-1, in five innings.
“None of the teams are walkovers here in the section so you have to take it one game at a time,” said EF coach Harry Rutherford. “It may have taken a few more innings than I wanted to shut them down but our bats were able to come up and we did what we needed to do.”
After McKeesport (1-4, 1-4) went down in order in the top of the first, Anna Resnik and Jordan Pinneri hit back-to-back doubles to lead off the game and get the Warriors ahead 1-0. Pinneri came around to score two batters later on a groundout to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead after one.
“That’s the reason they’re batting one and two,” said Rutherford. “They’re the spark plugs behind our offense and the speed on our team. Then you have Taylor Ludwick and Bri Sersevic in the four hole and they are getting the RBIs cleaning the bases up for us at big times.
