For the first time in nine years, the PIHL Division 2 title belongs to Ringgold.
Justin Day scored with 3:01 left in the third period to break a 3-3 tie and give the third-seeded Rams a 4-3 victory over No. 1 Burrell at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Monday night.
“I was just in the corner and I really wasn’t looking for much, just a shot on goal, and it happened to bounce in,” Day said. “We’ll take what we can get during that time of the game.
“I love every single person on this team and we couldn’t have had a greater group. It’s a great feeling because everyone doubted us and we proved them wrong.”
