Inconsistent Tigers eliminated by Shaler

In an up-and-down season, the issues that occasionally plagued McKeesport reared its head at the most inconvenient time.
Facing off against Shaler (16-7) in the first round of the 5A playoffs, the Tigers (11-10) dealt with inconsistencies that loomed large, as they fell 76-60 Monday at Fox Chapel.
“Tonight was a microcosm of the system. Inconsistency. We were really good for a couple minutes and really bad for a couple minutes,” McKeesport coach Kevin Kovach said. “If you look at this game, it mirrors our season. And against a team as good as Shaler, you can’t do that.”
Throughout his first season, Kovach has preached to his team the pillars he wants to build his program on. He wants the Tigers to rebound, to hit layups consistently, play smart, tough and steady.
